About geocode.net
geocode.net is a US geocoding API built on public-domain data and operated by APIDirectory. Who runs it, what it is made of, and how it is priced.
What it is
geocode.net turns US addresses into coordinates and coordinates into addresses, labels every result with how it was placed, and appends the geographies people usually have to join themselves: Census tracts and block groups, congressional and state legislative districts, school districts and time zones. It also locates IP addresses to the city.
What it is made of
The index is built only from public-domain and permissively licensed sources: the US Department of Transportation's National Address Database for rooftop points, the Census Bureau's TIGER/Line files for street ranges and every boundary, the timezone-boundary-builder project for time zones and DB-IP for IP geolocation. There is no OpenStreetMap data in the address index, which is why results carry no share-alike terms and you may keep them indefinitely. Sources and licences are listed on the licences page.
Who runs it
geocode.net is a house product of APIDirectory, which also handles keys, billing, documentation and the MCP server. Your account and usage live at dash.geocode.net.
